Financial education, personalized plans, and 1:1 mentors for young adults.
The Challenge
Millions of young adults feel trapped by debt and financial instability, stuck in survival mode at the exact moment they should be building toward bigger goals. The "3rd Decade" of life is when financial habits take hold, when people start families, buy homes, and prepare for retirement. Without the right footing, that window can close before it ever really opens.
The 3rd Decade Solution
3rd Decade helps low- to moderate-income adults ages 18 to 40 break free from the cycle of living paycheck to paycheck through practical financial education and one-on-one mentoring. The program empowers participants across the United States to move beyond survival mode and begin building wealth, reducing stress, and preparing for major life goals.
It works in two parts. First, an eight-week, at-your-own-pace course introduces the building blocks of financial capability, with real-time remote and asynchronous options that fit around jobs, families, and daily life. Then, each participant is paired with a financial mentor for two years, where they build and act on a personal financial plan.
Everyone who completes the full program receives $250 into their Roth IRA. Since 2019, more than 1,800 graduates have finished the program, reporting an average $54,000 increase in household wealth by the end of their two years.
The third decade of life is the key time to build healthy financial habits, plan for the future, and grow knowledge that leads to confident financial choices.
